Parliamentary questionGovernment remains cautious regarding state of pandemic in Luxembourg

RTL Today
Following German Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn's comments that some lockdown measures may have been too harsh, MPs Martine Hansen and Laurent Mosar from the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) enquired with Minister of Health Paulette Lenert whether she shared her counterpart's view.

Essentially, Lenert answered that she remained cautious in her remarks and would not make any statement without having assessed the situation regarding the evolution of the pandemic in Luxembourg.

The members of the opposition wanted to know whether Lenert shared the view of her German colleague Jens Spahn, who said that, based on current knowledge, he would no longer impose certain lockdown restrictions as had been done in the past.

Instead, Lenert remains more cautious and does not wish to comment on the evolution of the pandemic, although she is aware that the coming months could potentially see the situation get worse again. She refers in particular to the number of hospital admissions and the number of patients in intensive care.

Decisions must always be taken according to the figures and knowledge of the moment and the state of the epidemic, according to the Minister of Health, who points out that so far the government has not made an overall assessment of all the anti-Covid measures taken by the authorities during the state of emergency.

However, an analysis of Covid-19 cases in pupils was carried out, not forgetting the numerous publications by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Statec) which include a whole series of details concerning the situation in Luxembourg.
