Gardeners in Troisvierges disrupted a hornets nest while working on Thursday afternoon, an act that resulted in two workers being stung by the insects. One of them was badly stung, requiring emergency services to be sent to the scene.

A rescue helicopter and an emergency team were deployed to the incident. Paramedics from Troisvierges also took care of the injured worker as CGDIS confirmed upon RTL.lu’s request. The man was taken to the hospital, yet his current state is unknown.

Hornets can sting multiple times, injecting a high volume of venom with each sting. While a single sting may cause pain and swelling, multiple stings can lead to serious health issues – including nausea, breathing difficulties, low blood pressure, and, in extreme cases, organ failure. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) can occur even after one sting. Should you encounter a hornet nest, never approach it – always contact pest control.
