Ahead of a crucial EU Council session, Prime Minister Luc Frieden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held talks in Berlin, underscoring the importance of European unity and discussing renewable energy initiatives as well as the ongoing war in Ukraine.

On Monday, Prime Minister Luc Frieden met with German Chancellor Olaf Schotz in Berlin where both state heads highlighted the positive relationship between both countries. They further underlined the importance of nurturing such alliances to safeguard the proper functioning of Europe, announcing future cooperation in the domain of renewable energy.

Frieden and Scholz further discussed international matters, notably the war in Ukraine, and the importance of defending European values such as freedom and sovereignty.

As the EU Council will convene for an extraordinary session on 1 February, both Frieden and Scholz hope that a solution regarding Hungary’s position on Russia can soon be found.
