It was at around 6pm in Grevenmacher, on the Place du Marché, when one victim was taking money out of an ATM when he became embroiled in a conversation with a stranger who claimed he had left €20 in the machine.

Convinced to use his card once more, the victim became aware of the fact that, not only was his card gone, but it had been used to extract more money from his account.

A similar incident took place earlier in Dudelange: at around 2pm, our victim was, just as in the previous case, entered in to a conversation at the ATM before having his card and money stolen.

Perpetrator Description:

The perpetrator spoke French and has been described as gaunt, between 25 and 30 years old, wearing a black and grey cap, a dark jacket and black trousers. According to the police's report he was "well dressed".

The police have some advice on their website on how to avoid these attacks.
