Firefighters from the fire and rescue centres of Larochette, Heffingen, Consdorf, and Lintgen were dispatched shortly after 10.30am on Wednesday to contain the fire, which had quickly spread to the entire roof.
The fire started near the roof and ravaged it for the most part, according to preliminary information obtained by RTL. The cause of the fire is still to be determined.
No one was injured in the fire, with the farmer managing to get all the cattle to safety in time.
The heavy smoke prompted the authorities to temporarily close a section of the N14 between Heffingen and Reuland. Police advise motorists to drive cautiously in the area.
