Firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 6 am due to a fire in a barn that stores large hay bales. They managed to get the fire under control by around 8.20 am.

It became clear very quickly that back up was needed and a switch line was set up to keep the fire from spreading to the stables and biogas site. Shortly before 10 am, it was confirmed that the various fire brigades had succeeded in getting the fire under control.

Animals have been evacuated and around 800 hay bales are currently being removed from the farm. According to local authorities, this is likely to last all day.

The police also reported that the CR303 is currently to be avoided as the road between Colpach-Bas and Colpach-Haut has been closed. An alternative route has been put in place.

The water used to fight the flames was taken from the Attert river and a pond by Colpach castle.
