Instead, it was part of a large-scale training exercise carried out by Luxembourg’s firefighters ahead of the site’s official opening on 18 September.

The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) confirmed to RTL that the drill was the first of its kind to be held in the new complex. Organised in cooperation with GRIDX, the exercise aimed to test how firefighters would respond to a potential emergency inside the facility.

According to CGDIS, the simulation assessed several key factors: the effectiveness of initial response measures, coordination between teams, and the accessibility of water within the centre. Such rehearsals, they stressed, are crucial in preparing firefighters for real-life emergencies.

GRIDX reported that the drill ran smoothly, with both parties working well together. They underlined the importance of carrying out these exercises in new infrastructure, ensuring that emergency services are fully prepared should the need ever arise.
