The Ministry of Mobility published last year’s statistics of traffic accidents and ensuing casualties while emphasising that each traffic fatality is one too many, even if numbers are decreasing.

In 2024, 18 victims lost their lives in traffic accidents. In 2023, 26 people succumbed to their injuries. The 2024 numbers show a decline of 31%, and the number of severely injured people decreased by 11%. Last year, 308 individuals suffered from severe injuries caused by traffic accidents. Nevertheless, there has been a 3% increase of injured people in general.

One of the main causes behind these accidents remain speeding and alcohol. Pedestrians and cyclists are unfortunately the most vulnerable people on the street. In 2024, three pedestrians were fatally injured and 41 were severely injured. Cyclists did not suffer fatalities last year, but there was a total of 43 severely injured victims.
