On Sunday, Luxembourg City's Christmas markets shut their doors doors after 44 days. Fair traders are elated by City municipality's decision to leave markets open for longer.

The City’s Christmas markets were open from November 24 onwards, closing only on Christmas Day, 25 December. Post-New Year’s Eve, business saw a slight slowdown, noted by fair traders, though overall, they expressed contentment. Advocating for extended market hours, Steve Clement, Vice President of the National Federation of Fair Traders (FNCF), highlighted their satisfaction.

Not everyone will feel the Christmas spirit in January, claims Patrick Goldschmidt, Alderman in Luxembourg City. Patrick Goldschmidt, Alderman in Luxembourg City, questions the continuation of certain practices, such as the playing of Christmas music in January, deeming it somewhat out of place.

As for the duration, Goldschmidt wants to discuss how things will continue in the future with fair traders.
