Minister Asselborn explained that capacities of the Office are currently at 96%. On average, people benefiting from their services stay at an ONA facility for more than 18 months before being able to move into a real apartment.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the number of people arriving at ONA facilities has significantly increased. During the first week of March alone, 800 new people came to Luxembourg. By now, it is about ten people per week, explained Minister Asselborn.

The politician from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) further conveyed that the Office also receives additional requests from resident families who have taken in refugees from Ukraine.

Over the course of the year, a number of new facilities are set to become ready for use, including the former building of newspaper Wort, noted Minister Asselborn. He further announced that close to 600 people with ‘temporary protection’ are already registered with the National Employment Agency (ADEM).
