Policy disagreements with Minister for Home AffairsEx police union leader Pascal Ricquier resigns from CSV

RTL Today
Pascal Ricquier, former president of the police union, has parted ways with the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) in protest of Minister for Home Affairs Léon Gloden's policies regarding law enforcement and related issues such as the begging ban.

In an interview with the newspaper Tageblatt, Ricquier cited fundamental disagreements with Minister Gloden’s approach to police organisation and management.

Initially positioned to serve as a political advisor, focusing on matters encompassing the police, army, and civil service, Ricquier indicated that there had been differences of opinion with the Minister for Home Affairs on issues such as the introduction of a municipal police force and the begging ban. However, this was not the only reason, as Ricquier went on to say that he generally disagreed with the CSV’s line on police matters. Ricquier refrained from ruling out a return to the police union, from which he resigned to run in the 2023 legislative elections.
