This news was confirmed at the government council on Thursday. The revision to the 2009 law will play a role in life insurance cases, which require eventual conclusion.
The law requires the patient to be in a medical situation to which there is no cure, linked to unbearable physical or psychical suffering, without the prospect of improvement.
Between 2009 and 2010, there were 5 reports of euthanasia in Luxembourg. For the period from 2011 to 2012, this number was 14, then 9 in 2013, 7 in 2014, 8 in 2015, 10 in 2016, 11 in 2017 and 8 in 2018.
