European Commissioner Michael McGrath met Luxembourg's Justice Minister Elisabeth Margue on Thursday, with the latest EU Rule of Law Report and 'EU Inc' on the agenda.

On Thursday, European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection Michael McGrath paid a visit to Luxembourg. He met with Luxembourg's Justice Minister Elisabeth Margue, with discussions focused on the recent EU Rule of Law Report.

A government statement noted the minister's satisfaction that Luxembourg's efforts to digitalise its judicial system were being recognised at EU level. At the same time, she underlined the importance of continuing to recruit additional staff and to simplify procedures and speed them up.

Discussions also turned to the proposal for 'EU Inc', a planned new common corporate legal framework across the EU, which aims to make cross-border cooperation between companies easier. Luxembourg backs the goal of making Europe more competitive, though the planned simplifications, Margue underlined, had to rest on a solid legal framework.
