Cameras and police presenceEsch-sur-Alzette unveils new inner-city safety concept

RTL Today
The municipality of Esch-sur-Alzette has presented a new safety concept for the southern city, which builds on increased police presence and more security cameras in "sensitive" areas.

Over the last couple of months, police have analysed which types of crimes are frequently committed in which places to determine where increased police presence makes most sense. New security cameras in eight locations are further hoped to help keep criminal behaviour at bay. Cameras will thus be installed on Rue de l’Alzette, Brill Square, and around the local train station.

According to Esch-sur-Alzette Mayor Georges Mischo, cameras can only be installed once the Ministry of Internal Security has granted authorisation, which is expected to be at some point in 2024.
