Eight new petitions are available for signatures on the website of the Chamber of Deputies. The petitions have until 11 August to collect at least 4,500 signatures to trigger a public debate.

One of the petitions calls for a greater involvement of citizens in the legislative process, proposing that they should be able to approve or disapprove of a law when it is being drafted through a referendum.

Another petitioner proposes to extend paternal leave to one month, while a different petition demands that animals that are kept outside on meadows and fields should be able to benefit from a shelter against the sun or the rain.

One citizen wants to introduce majority voting in local elections in towns with up to 15,000 inhabitants, and another demands that parking meters in Luxembourg City should include an option to pay with Digicash.

Overview of new petitions

2379: Every parking meter in Luxembourg City should offer payment via digicash as an alternative to the traditional cash payment method. Not all parking meters offer payment via bank terminal.
