Officers noticed the man showed signs of intoxication and questioned him, at which point he admitted to having consumed alcohol but claimed he had taken the bus to get to the police station.
When he left the premises, however, he went to his car and climbed behind the wheel. Officers called him back into the station to undergo a breathalyser test, and confiscated his driver’s licence.
In a separate incident during the early hours of 25 July, a police patrol in Rumelange noticed a driver behaving suspiciously on Rue de l’Usine, where the car was weaving across the road at high speed.
The police succeeded in pulling the vehicle over and identified the driver as being visibly intoxicated. His licence was subsequently confiscated.
