
The accident, which took place at 6.50am on Sunday morning, occurred on the A4 between Luxembourg City and Esch-sur-Alzette, near Leudelange.
Emergency services report that three people were injured in the accident, two of whom received serious injury. According to police reports, the accident was caused by a drunk driver going against the direction of traffic. Police were unable to prevent the accident despite having dispatched a patrol to intercept the errant vehicle.
The drunk driver also had a passenger in their car, who along with the driver receive more serious injury. Both have been hospitalised. The second car had no passengers beyond the driver, who escaped with only minor injuries.
