On Thursday evening, police received reports of a vehicle zigzagging across the CR235 from Eschweiler to Drauffelt. The car is said to have moved into the wrong lane on multiple occasions, damaging several vehicles coming towards it.
A police patrol succeeded in pulling the car over and administered a breathalyser test. The driver was found to be intoxicated and lost their licence as a result.
In Buderscheid, police came across another motorist driving dangerously, who was also found to be over the legal alcohol limit. Officers issued a provisional driving ban.
In Capellen and Steinfort, the police conducted a number of alcohol checks ordered by the public prosecutor’s office overnight. 135 motorists were checked, five of whom returned positive breathalyser tests. All five received fines and one had their licence confiscated.
