PoliceDriver caught speeding at 222 km/h on A7 motorway

On Wednesday evening between 6 and 10pm, the Grand Ducal Police conducted speed checks on the A7 motorway near Mersch, heading towards Colmar-Berg.

One driver was caught speeding at 222 kilometres per hour instead of the permitted 130. The driver’s licence was immediately confiscated on the spot and a provisional driving ban was issued. A report on the incident was filed.

Meanwhile, 34 drivers received fines of €145 each and had two penalty points deducted. Another 10 drivers were fined €49 each. One driver was found to be driving without a valid licence, for which a report was also filed.

Two other drivers each lost four points and were fined €250 for using their mobile phones while driving.

At the same time, a mobile speed camera was in operation on the A7 towards Mersch, where it caught 55 drivers speeding. One of them was travelling at 188 kilometres per hour.
