
At around 2am on Sunday morning, a police patrol in Esch-sur-Alzette signalled a vehicle on Grand-Rue for a check. However, the driver ignored them and sped off. The police followed with sirens, but lost contact with the vehicle. Later, another patrol found the suspect at the junction between Rue de Belvaux and Rue Jean-Pierre Michels, where an accident had occurred.
The driver had collided with two other cars and a bus at the crossroads, injuring one person. Although he tried to flee the scene of the crash on foot, he was caught by police on Place des Franciscains, where he was found to be highly intoxicated and on drugs. A search revealed banned substances on his person, and he was also found to be a banned driver.
The man was arrested by order of the public prosecutor and brought before a judge on Sunday. He was also handed a fresh driving ban.
At 6am on Saturday, police came across a group of people outside a bar on Rue Ernie Reitz in Esch, where two men were scuffling. When the officers intervened, one of the men reacted aggressively and refused to cooperate. Officers searched him and found he was in possession of banned substances. His mobile phone was seized and he was taken into custody following a medical check.
On Saturday afternoon, a police patrol in Luxembourg City's Gare district found two men fighting, one of whom was intoxicated and uncooperative. He was brought to the police station to sober up and to undergo a medical check.
Early Sunday, another fight was reported involving two people outside a club on Rue du Fort Neipperg in the capital. When police arrived on the scene, the two men refused to calm down and were restrained.
One of the men had sustained injuries to his face and was taken to hospital for treatment. However, he continued to refuse to cooperate with police and was subsequently arrested.
The second individual involved in the fight was also taken into custody.
