On Wednesday, in the late afternoon, a car accident unfolded on Rue de Hollerich near the Gare district in the center of Luxembourg. Initial reports suggest that the collision occurred between two cars when a driver drove on the wrong side of the road. Following a positive breathalyser test, the driver’s license was confiscated. The other party involved in the collision was promptly taken to the hospital for a comprehensive injury examination.
Later that night, a police patrol in Esch-sur-Alzette observed an erratic driver on Rue Dicks. Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver stopped the vehicle and continued on foot towards Rue de l’Alzette. As the car’s headlights were still on, the police apprehended the individual and detected signs of alcohol consumption. He was transported to the police station, where, upon refusal to undergo a breathalyser test and displaying complete non-cooperation during the entire ordeal, his license was confiscated. Given his impaired condition, authorities decided to confine the reckless driver to a detoxification cell.
In another incident, around midnight the same night during a routine check on Route d’Esch in Belvaux, the police detected a strong smell of alcohol on a driver’s breath. The individual was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which yielded a positive result, leading to the issuance of a temporary driving ban.
