Veronique Faber, interim director and president of the administrative board at the radio station, was called before the media commission after an enquiry by the CSV to find out why there so many management changes at 100,7 and what the underlyig problems were.

The results of the short session were mostly unsatisfying, said CSV MP Diane Adehm. Asked why the administrative board had dismissed the previous director Marc Gergen "with immediate effect", Mrs Faber responded that there had indeed been problems between the director, the editorial staff and the administrative board, but she had agreed with Mr Gergen that this remain confidential and was thus unable to give further details.

This was the general gist of the responses to a number of questions they had, said Diane Adehm. "Everything was confidential, period." While she understood that not every sordid detail should be discussed in public, it remains that the radio station is funded by public money, therefore she would expect more accountability.

Sven Clement from the Pirate Party explained that recruitment would be handled internally, but that Veronique Faber had not shared any names. The media commission will await the nomination with trepidation and expects to call the new director to answer questions about "project 100,7". It remains to be seen whether the corresponding legislation will have to be adapted.

Public service broadcasters were important, stressed Sven Clement, but they might have to rethink what they should look like and how they should be financed.
