About three years ago, the Diekirch municipal council unanimously decided to increase the property tax on all unused land located within the building perimeter by 20 times. This decision was also approved by the Ministry of the Interior.
However, about 15 affected persons filed a complaint with the administrative court in 2021, and last week they were backed by the administrative court. Now the municipality wants to appeal against the decision.
The mayor of Diekirch, Claude Thill, is still of the opinion that the decision on the property tax is the right one, especially considering the urgent need for housing.
