Off the record, however, those close to the parliamentary group are saying that the party president is struggling to deal with the situation. Last year, he was only narrowly elected to the leadership of the CSV. From the start, his relationship with the parliamentary group has not been easy. Many MPs do not appreciate Engel's "one man show" style of leadership.
