On Friday, officials from the municipality in Esch put forward a motion to locate the planned institution at a former Arbed site between Esch and Schifflange. The 60 hectare area is currently being redeveloped into a new living space, scheduled to be finished by 2040.

The proximity to France speaks for the city of Esch as a suitable location for the school. The last couple of weeks have shown the essential importance of health workers, while around 70% of people employed in the sector come from abroad. It is thus important to cultivate a renewed interest in the respective professions among Luxembourgish citizens.

In 2018, only twenty-eight students graduated from infirmary schools in Luxembourg, currently located either in Käerjeng, Ettelbruck, or the capital.
