InterviewCovid-19 crisis should not be the sole factor to influence future housing projects: Pierre Hurt

RTL Today
The director of the order of architects and consulting engineers, Pierre Hurt, was a guest on RTL Radio on Wednesday morning.

After a crisis such as "How do we want to live together?" will gain new importance.

Housing models, office spaces, or recreational areas: the impact of the virus and lessons learned from it must be taken into consideration.

These are some of the statements made by the director of the order of architects and consulting engineers (OAI), Pierre Hurt, on RTL Radio on Wednesday morning.

When asked about availability of building land, Hurt stressed that there was no way to avoid the topic of density.

He stated that the resolution of this issue was up to the city planners and the politicians, but also to residents, citing those unwilling to have anything "in their backyards" as an example.

While Hurt admitted that the Covid-19 crisis does of course influence the topic of density, he insisted that it should not be the sole factor to determine which models will be the blueprint for future construction or reconstruction projects.

According to the director of OAI, a good, diverse offer with a wide range of accessibility to those searching for their first home is of major importance.

OAI is once again awarding its "Builder Award" in September to those builders who especially value quality.
