Luxembourg Institute of HealthCoronavirus antibodies required for clinical trials

RTL Today
There is no shortage of work for the teams at the Luxembourg Institute of Health, based in the south of the country.

A team led by Christiane Hilger is searching for antibodies among Covid-19 patients.

The project was launched in April, with activities expected to end in October. The research is financed by the International Monetary Fund and due to the nature of the work, occupies between two to three researchers on a permanent basis.

Clinical trials are planned to take place thanks to the antibody testing.

The process requires several vital steps to achieve a final result. In normal times, the team focuses on analysing allergies present in Luxembourg, but their skills have been redirected as a result of the pandemic.

Antibody tests are performed outside the LIH, in commercial laboratories.
