A local farmer had come across the unexploded bomb while working on one of his agricultural fields between Derenbach and Erpeldange-Wiltz.

The bomb disposal unit was called to the scene to conduct a controlled explosion. As the item could not be moved prior to the detonation, the area around the discovery was blocked off to traffic.

After the detonation was carried out, the unit cleared away any remains and reopened the blockade.
