In an answer to a parliamentary question from CSV MPs Max Engel and Marc Spautz, the minister admits that the list of cases allowing parents to request leave up to a maximum of 52 weeks in extreme circumstances is too restrictive and does not reflect reality.
An internal working group is currently working on suggestions, which will then be discussed with concerned parties, including social partners. Once negotiations have concluded, the changes will be presented to the government council.
