Motorists now spend an average of 75 hours a year stuck in traffic jams – more than three full days – pushing the capital up from 377ᵗʰ to 207ᵗʰ in the global ranking of the world’s most congested cities.
During peak hours, the average speed drops to just 25.8 km/h, with traffic particularly heavy in January.
The problem is not confined to Luxembourg. Brussels leads the region in congestion, with drivers losing an average of 146 hours a year.
For cross-border commuters travelling to Luxembourg daily, the figures underline a growing reality: the journey to work is getting longer and more frustrating.
