Readers sent in photographs to the RTL online team showing how countless cars parked in the surrounding area of Kautenbach station had received parking fines on Wednesday.
Commuters were frustrated by the fines, as the car park adjacent to the station is always full and the car park across from the station has been inaccessible for weeks due to the river’s high water levels.

Because of the unavailable dedicated car park, commuters needing to take the train from Kautenbach have been parking on the street by the station - a pedestrian road designed for school kids.
The police in Wiltz consequently sprang into action and fined every driver parked on the road.

The municipality of Kiischpelt confirmed the cause of the parking fines upon RTL inquiry. In that exchange, the municipal authorities stressed that buses stop at the station and connect it with Wilwerwiltz, meaning commuters do not need to drive to the station themselves.
The car park is due to have reopened on Thursday, once water levels have dropped.
