As is the case every year, construction sites in Luxembourg come to a standstill for several weeks in August and around the Christmas period. This Thursday, 11 January will see most workers returning back to work.
For 2024, construction work will be halted between 26 July and 18 August in the summer, and between 21 December and 8 January 2025 for the winter period.
Collective leave encompasses all construction and engineering companies. The leave may only be cancelled if urgent repair works have to be done at educational facilities, factories with crucial production lines, or other work agreed upon by officials.
