The ever more frequent high temperatures, little rain, and plenty of sun continues this year after 2018 and 2019. The likelihood of wildfires therefore remains ever-present, as plants become increasingly dry and brittle.

The destruction of healthy trees by bark beetles constitutes an additional threat, which especially implicates fir trees. Nevertheless, forest wardens report that human carelessness remains the primary cause for wildfires, as for instance by cigarettes, barbecues, or thrown-away glass. They are therefore cooperating with the police to monitor the situation and are alerted to attempts of arson.

Specific campaigns for risk areas drawing larger crowds have been initiated, like for instance around the barrier lake.

The elevated temperatures of this year's summer months remain a risk factor, but with a bit of attention, major incidents can be avoided.
