Former ombudsmanClaudia Monti appointed new president of Caritas successor HUT

RTL Today
After completing her term as ombudsman, lawyer Claudia Monti will take up a new role at HUT – Hëllef um Terrain, the successor organisation to Caritas.

On Friday, 25 April, the board of directors of HUT appointed Claudia Monti as the new president of the association, according to a press release. She succeeds Christian Billon, who had agreed to lead the association when it launched in October last year, after it came to light last year that Caritas had lost over €60 million in a major fraud scandal, leaving the charity on the verge of financial collapse and putting many of its activities in jeopardy.

Billon will continue to support the association as a member of the board of directors, according to the press release.

The appointment of Claudia Monti marks a new phase in the development of the organisation. A qualified lawyer, Monti has long practised as a solicitor specialising in family and children’s law. Over the past eight years, she served as the Ombudsman of Luxembourg.

The general director of HUT remains Philippe Schrantz, former director general of the police.
