The historic windmill located next to the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) is being dismantled this week to make way for a new accident and emergency department. However, it will not be moved very far.
A familiar feature of the CHL landscape for years, the windmill is relocating to allow for the construction of a larger emergency facility. It will be rebuilt just a few metres from its current position.
The windmill has been classified as a historical monument for over two decades. It is considered an important testament to Luxembourg's industrial heritage and is one of only two surviving examples of its style in the Grand Duchy.
