WeddingsCivil ceremonies temporarily available in other locations, with masks

RTL Today
The government has approved a temporary amendment to the civil code allowing couples to marry in other locations than the town hall usually used for civil ceremonies.

Many town halls are too small to accommodate 20 people for a wedding whilst maintaining the safety distances.

Ministers Sam Tanson and Taina Bofferding have therefore introduced the temporary measures to allow civil ceremonies to take place in other locations, to be determined by each town's mayor.

Guests attending the ceremonies will have to observe distancing regulations and will likely have to wear protective masks.

These measures will be valid for the duration of the state of emergency, due to end in mid-June, plus the 12 months following until June 2021.
This also constitutes an opportunity for the government to work on modernising the legalities surrounding civil ceremonies, as previewed in the coalition agreement.

Feedback from different municipalities during the temporary measures will be used to determine the civil code going forward.
