Together with his brother François Thiry, the entrepreneur took over the Karp-Kneip construction company, which was founded in 1898 by their great-grandfather Corneille Karp-Kneip. The family business continues to specialise in road construction.
Christian Thiry was also President of the Entrepreneurs Association in Luxembourg from 1994 to 2016. He was known for not mincing his words, including pointing the finger at problems with construction procedures.
Among other things, Christian Thiry was a passionate sailor.
He leaves behind four children.
