The cause of the alarm: reports of a major fire in Echternach's industrial zone.
When firefighters arrived on site, they realised that it was not as serious as first feared - just one of the chimneys was on fire, so they notified units on way from Diekirch, Rosport and Berdorf that they were no longer needed.
Thanks to the quick arrival and intervention of the firefighters, major damage was prevented.
The fire fighters, fully kitted out with heavy-duty breathing apparatus, extinguished the flames and aired the premises.
The process was so well executed that the workers were able to resume their day to day duties after about 90 minutes.
Nobody was hurt during the incident, which was dealt with by the emergency services and fire brigade from Echternach, the Mertert-Grevenmacher fire brigade and Echternach police.
