Child benefit will go up by €45 a month, with a further €15 supplement for children over the age of 12.

The back-to-school allowance will increase to €175 for children up to the age of 11, and €325 for children over 12.

The DP's Max Hahn, Minister for Family, told the Chamber the government wanted to support families in the broadest sense. The reform is likely to cost around 166 million euros next year, rising to 217 million by 2030.
