Although CHEFP support the introduction of new social measures, such as free school lunches, officials still believe that the 2022 budget fails to respond sufficiently to social needs.

President Romain Wolff also welcomed the re-indexation of family allocations, which was done retroactively to include 1 October. However, the Chamber again believes that the measure is not significant enough and the indexation should go back as far as 2014.

CHEFP officials addressed the housing crisis and labelled it the country’s greatest social challenge. Conditions for social housing should therefore be adjusted so that more people can become eligible.

The Chamber also spoke about tax inequalities, noting that private citizens are overly burdened in comparison to businesses, a matter in need of urgent adjustment.
