To receive the summary of the Chamber’s sessions, you now have to register or search for the summary on the Chamber’s website. In fact, the Chamber of Deputies is trying to accelerate digitalisation, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Fernand Etgen, explained.
The publication of the Chamberblietchen was until now a privilege reserved for the daily printed press. However, the contracts with the three official dailies have expired and a new contract has been signed with the Luxembourg-based communication agency “Brain & More” after an international call for tenders. The Chamber of Deputies has worked with Brain & More in the past.
“We were no longer up to date, even for ecological reasons,” Etgen acknowledged. “Large quantities of newspapers were regularly thrown away. We are now able to adapt all our communication digitally.”
After widespread criticism, an agreement with the Lëtzebuerger Journal to digitise the publication of the summary for the media was quickly withdrawn last year. Following the collaboration with the “Journal,” the issue of media equality in the digital age arose. 18 months later, everything has gone digital. The paper edition will only be available in DIN A4 format with a free subscription beginning in October.
The goal, according to Etgen, was to “update the Chamber’s leaflet.” The Chamber President noted that “we live in a digital world and a constantly changing media society. We have to take this into account and the publication must therefore also evolve.”
The administration has recently developed a new communication strategy. The new website of the Chamber of Deputies will go live on 10 October.
The Chamber’s budget for the publication was around €1.2 million in 2020. This cost is likely to decrease beginning this year, but the precise amount depends on the number of subscriptions
Etgen indicated that they were also attempting to catch up with the Chamberblietchen delay. The sessions are currently being published nine months late. Two new employees have been hired in the previous few months to take over.
