On Tuesday, the Chamber of Deputies is expected to discuss the effects of the pandemic on work organisation, before focusing on a draft law concerned with the potential of introducing legal steps against members of the administration.

The four faction leaders from the Democratic Party (DP), the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP), the Greens, and the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) proposed to have this debate in light of the garden shed affair that led to the resignation of former Environment Minister Carole Dieschbourg.

A new text is now hoped to regulate that the prosecutor’s office is put in charge of leading such investigations as a neutral entity. At present, judicial authorities can only investigate ministers and former ministers if the Chamber has granted an authorisation.
