According to RTL information, three candidates have applied for the opening of Claudia Monti’s position.
First up is the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) politician Claudine Konsbrück, who is currently working at the Ministry of Justice. She was part of the local council of Luxembourg City for 12 years, and at the moment she is also a member of the administrative council of the non-profit organisation HUT, “Hëllef um Terrain”.
Her application is followed by Tine Larsen, one of three commissioners of Luxembourg’s Data Protection Authority (CNPD). Before her position as manager of Luxembourg’s Data Protection Authority, she was an administrator at the Luxembourg Army Headquarters and active in the National Rescue Services agency.
The third and final application was sent in by Jan Kayser, current director of the Mediation Centre for Civil and Commercial Affairs (CMCC), and previous president of the Luxembourgish Association of Mediators (ALMA).
The applications will be received by the Chamber plenary in March, where the new ombudsperson will be appointed via a two thirds vote.
Claudia Monti’s successor will be the fourth person to hold the position since its creation. Monti was preceded by Marc Fischbach and Lydie Err.
The mandate has a duration of eight years, and it cannot be extended.
