The CGDIS posted on Facebook to warn of fire risks, following a large vegetation fire in Bourscheid on Tuesday. Around 30 fire fighters, made up of professionals and volunteers, were required to put the fire out within an hour. Fortunately, the team succeeded in preventing the fire from spreading to a nearby house and agricultural equipment.
The emergency services took the opportunity to remind the public of preventative measures, which can be found on their website. People are advised not to throw cigarettes away in nature, and should not start fires in open spaces. Farmers are advised to have fire extinguishers to hand at all times and should also check their machinery regularly for technical issues.
In the event of a wildfire, the public are encouraged to call 112 as soon as possible.
