Operating year-round in service to both people and animals, CGDIS undertakes various missions, some of which may not immediately come to mind. The year 2023 was no exception to encountering unique and unexpected challenges:

“Whether it’s bringing down a stranded cat from a rooftop, rescuing chicks from a manhole, or freeing a horse stuck in a trailer, CGDIS volunteer and professional firefighters are on call 24/7, ready to lend a helping hand,” stated CGDIS in a Facebook post on Thursday. The post highlighted that in addition to the standard animal rescue training integrated into firefighters’ training, CGDIS boasts a specialised unit known as the Animal Rescue Group (GSAN), which is mobilised in exceptional situations.
