Vandalism, muggings, and stolen vehicle cases are driving increased police use of national CCTV footage, with Visupol system requests climbing steadily since 2021 according to newly released government data.

Luxembourg police have significantly increased their use of footage from the national “Visupol” CCTV network, with annual requests climbing from 460 in 2021 to nearly 640 in 2024.

The data, disclosed by Minister for Home Affairs Léon Gloden in response to a parliamentary question from the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR), reveals the cameras are most frequently deployed in cases involving vandalism, drug offences, muggings, assaults, and stolen vehicles.
