Luxembourg’s political parties agree that cancer medication should be fully reimbursed.

But the Green Party believes that additional caution is required with medication that is not directly used to treat cancer, especially with sleeping pills due to the risk of addiction. The party is asking for a list of all the medications that the CNS would reimburse.

All the parties also agree that the CNS should cover the cost of an adequate diet during the cancer treatment and that patients at the beginning of their sick leave should be able leave the house and socialise.

The parties also unanimously agreed that cancer patients should be allowed to have more than the legal maximum of 78 weeks of paid sick leave over two years.

However, no such agreement is to be found on measures to combat tobacco use.

Only the Left Party and the Green Party agreed with the foundation’s demand to increase the price of tobacco products by 10%. Dei Lenk is also the only party that agrees with the proposal to limit the number of selling points for tobacco products as well as introduce a maximum quantity of products allowed to be sold.

As for the other parties, the Democratic Party wants to fight tobacco use with more information, while the Alternative Democratic Reform Party wants to limit advertisements. The Christian Social People’s Party does not think anything needs to change.

The Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party wants to limit smoking in some public spaces, while the Greens Party is aiming to target smoking at the workplace.
