After the Easter holidays have come to an end, it is yet another special return to school for pupils and teachers alike. Starting Monday, everyone will be able to take one voluntary rapid test per week.

Only first-graders will be allowed to take the tests at home under the supervision of their parents. The Chamber of Deputies underlined that small children lack the necessary precision to properly conduct the self-tests.

The person in charge of the class will be responsible for monitoring the test results and isolating children, should their tests turn out to be positive. In those cases, parents will be contacted so that they can organise a PCR test for their child.

The Ministry of Education recently estimated that 1.6 million self-tests will be necessary to follow-up on the strategy until the summer holidays. At the moment, Luxembourg has a limited amount of units, out of which one part has been reserved for the education sector.
