The call for tender, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture for the purchase of fruit distributed free of charge in schools, appears once again to be a flop, writes the Ecological Movement in a press release published on Tuesday morning.
Last September, the non-profit already criticised the fact that the Ministry did not explicitly include any ecological criteria in its call for tender, which concerns the distribution of fruit in 400 Luxembourg schools.
While the rest of the world is banking on regional products, organic farming, reducing pesticide use and fighting biodiversity loss, the Ministry of Agriculture is "stuck" in old patterns, according to the Ecological Movement.
Instead, the organisation states, the price is once again the only criterion used, a decision which it describes as "shameful and unacceptable".
