
Unknown individuals broke into a single-family home in Kopstal on Friday evening. The culprits smashed in a window and rummaged through the rooms. A second burglary was reported in Pratz. Investigations have been launched in both cases.
At around 00.50am, the police received reports of a car lying on its side in Esch-sur-Alzette. The motorist, it turned out, had crashed into a parked car. The driver tested positive for alcohol and lost his driving licence. The car had to be towed, and the accident resulted in substantial material damage.
Two vehicles crashed into each other between Oetrange and Canach at around 1am. According to the police, both vehicles were severely damaged, but no one was injured. One of the drivers turned out to be inebriated. She was fined and had to hand over her driving licence.
In Mondorf-les-Bains, a police patrol saw a car hitting two other vehicles that were parked along the road at around 2.15am. The driver was asked to take a breathalyser test, which came back positive, costing him his driving licence.
At around 5.45am, the police received reports of a person who had fallen asleep behind the wheel in Limpach. The situation was particularly problematic as the car was stationed in front of a red light. Officers woke the man up and asked him to submit to an alcohol test. When the test came back positive, the police revoked his licence and seized the car.
Another driver caught the attention of the police when he sped past a patrol on Avenue de la Faïencerie in Luxembourg City at around 3.45am. The police pursued the man all the way from Luxembourg City to the N12 in the direction of Bridel, where they were able to stop the motorist. This driver also turned out to be intoxicated. His driving licence was withdrawn.
Finally, the police report that a person contacted them on 30 March to report the theft of a tablet. Over the course of the investigation, the police were able to locate the device as well as a suspect in Esch-sur-Alzette.
The police discovered that the suspect was banned from entering the Schengen area. During a subsequent search, the officers not only found the stolen tablet but also seized 20 pellets of cocaine. The man was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office and the stolen device was returned to its owner.
